Senior Chief Petty Officer Jason S. Rhodes
Senior Chief Petty Officer Jason S. Rhodes is a native of central Texas. He is a 1999 graduate of Bruceville-Eddy High I.S.D. He enlisted in the delayed entry program in May 2001 and left for boot camp in Sept. 5, 2001. After basic training, he attended Advanced Electronics Computer Field Technical Core followed by Fire Controllman “A” School at Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes, Illinois. He attended the Close in Weapons System (CIWS) “C” School at Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) Dam Neck, Virginia.
His first duty assignment was onboard USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as CIWS work center supervisor and combat systems officer of the watch (CSOOW). During this tour, he completed two joint Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) and deployed twice to the U.S 5th Fleet area of operations. He advanced to petty officer 2nd class, and qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.
In February 2008, he transferred to Fleet Aviation Special Operations Training Group Atlantic, now the Center for Security Forces SERE Detachment East, as a Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE) instructor. During that tour, he promoted to petty officer 1st class, earned the Master Training Specialist (MTS) certification, and selected to represent SERE Det. East as the 2010 Sailor of the Year. He then transferred to the independently deployed USS Ramage (DDG 61) homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, in December 2011. In 2012 “The Year of the Chief,” he was selected to chief petty officer. During CPO Heritage Week in Boston, Massachusetts, he conducted the “War of 1812” bicentennial ceremonial underway onboard USS Constitution. He completed two additional U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations deployments. He held duties as force protection officer, CG and CM division leading chief petty officer.
In January 2017, Senior Chief Rhodes reported to his current assignment at Tactical Training Group, Atlantic as the TLAM leading chief petty officer and Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
He has an Associates of Arts in Electronics Technology from Coastline Community College, is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy class 213 “Gold Team”, and is attending Old Dominion University to complete a Bachelor’s of Science degree majoring in Occupational and Technical Studies.
Senior Chief Rhodes is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Meritorious Unit Citations (two awards), Good Conduct (five awards), and several campaign awards.
