COL. RYAN F. HARRINGTON

Commander, Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic

08 July 2021  A native of Hamilton, Montana, Colonel Ryan F. Harrington was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2001 after graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Operations and Technology.  Upon completion of The Basic Officers Course in 2002, he became a Ground Intelligence Officer, and later received additional formal training in Marine Air Ground Task Force Intelligence, Expeditionary Ground Reconnaissance, and Technical Information Operations.
 
He served as a Commander for the Instructor Platoon, Jungle Warfare Training Center, 3d Marine Division; 1st Ground Sensor Platoon and Headquarters Company, 1st Intelligence Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force; Company C, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division; and Marine Detachment Dam Neck VA, Marine Corps Intelligence Schools. 
 
His principal staff assignments include Assistant G-2 Operations Officer, 3d Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force; Assistant Intelligence Officer, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment; Analysis Team Leader, Battlespace Support Team Raleigh, Tactical Fusion Center and Operations Officer, 1st Intelligence Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force; Instructor / Director, Ground Intelligence Officers Course, Marine Detachment Dam Neck VA, Marine Corps Intelligence Schools; Assistant Operations Officer and Operations Officer, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division; Information Operations Planner, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Fleet Marine Force Pacific; Intelligence Officer / Advisor, Task Force Spartan, Combine Joint Task Force – Operation INHERENT RESOLVE; Operations Officer, Marine Corps Information Operations Center, Deputy Commandant for Information.
 
Deployed in support of Operations VIGILANT RESOLVE, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, and Exercise NORDIC RESPONSE 2024.  He received a Master of Science in Information Warfare Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2015 and has served as an Expeditionary Warfare School (Distant Education Program) Instructor since 2017.  He received the Defense Intelligence Agency James David Fahnestock Award in 2006 for contributions to Measurement and Signature Intelligence for the employment ground sensors during combat operations in Iraq.  His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three Gold Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
 
Colonel Harrington is married to the former Trinie Snyder of Lakewood, Colorado, who previously served as an officer in the US Air Force for six years.  They have been married for 21 years and have one daughter, Emory, who is 14 years old.
