Colonel Christopher Browning is the son of a career Marine and graduated from Troy State University in 1997. After graduation, he attended The Basic School and was designated a Naval Aviator in May 2000.
As a CH-46E pilot, he served in HMM-263 from 2000-2005. Transitioning to the MV-22B in 2006, he served as a plank owner in VMM-162 from 2007-2009, a plank owner in VMM-365 from 2009- 2011 and at VMM (T)-204 from 2011-2012. He commanded VMM-163 (REIN) from 2015-2017 and VMM-265 (REIN) in 2018.
Staff assignments include International Plans and Policy Officer (APP-59) and Medium Lift Requirements Officer (APW-52), HQMC Aviation Hallway from 2013-2014. He is joint qualified after serving in the Current Operations Division, United States Southern Command from 2019-2021.
Colonel Browning is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School and holds a Masters in Military Studies from the USMC Command and Staff College and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the USAF War College. Colonel Browning has accumulated over 3000 flight hours.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 gold stars, Air Medal with strike flight numeral 14, Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
